No edged weapon in history has ever been surrounded with such mystique and tradition like the Japanese sword. The sword is so closely associated with the Japanese samurai that it became known as the “soul of the samurai”. It was both weapon and symbol, forged as a religious act and wielded with superhuman skill. A sword forged by a celebrated master was one of the most prized gifts that a warrior could receive.

For more than 2600 years, the “City of Treasure Sword ” Longquan, is known for making the best swords in the world. Located within the border of south Zhejiang , China and under the Fengyang Mountain , Longquan is rich in resources that are suitable for crafting swords. During the period of Warring States (770 – 476 B.C.), a famous sword maker named Ou Yezi created the most renowned sword in Longquan. Since then, the secret arts of crafting swords have been passed down from generations to generations.

Ryumon and Masahiro swords are hand forged by master craftsmen with years of experience from Longquan. These master sword smiths combine modern knowledge with traditional secrets to produce superior quality swords w/ enhanced durability, sharpness, and exquisite craftsmanship.

The Ryumon Raijin Katane has a hand forged and folder AISI 1060 carbon steel blade meticulously crafted for a Damascus look. Heat treated with traditional processes, the razor sharp edge has a hardness of roughly “57Rc and a softer spine (“45Rc) to absorb shocks. A one piece brass construction habaki (blade collar) enables the blade to fit securely into the saya (scabbard). The tsuba (guard) of this sword features a reproduction of “Raijin” (The god of thunder), based on the work of Tawaraya Sotatsu, a master painter of the Edo period. The saya (scabbard) is lacquered to a super high gloss finish with inladid brass sakura (cherry blossom flower). Authentic ray skin (same) is used to wrap the tsuka (handle). Both the segeo and ito are woven from imported Japanese silk from a sleek and elegant look. The koiguchi (scabbard mouth) and kojiri (scabbard tip) are made with genuine water buffalo horn.

Each sword comes complete with hang tag, a silk sword bag, a cleaning kit, a reference guide, and a certificate of authenticity all packaged in a lacquered wooden box.

The Ryumon shogun Katana has a hand forged and folded AISI 1060 carbon steel blade meticulously crafted fro a Damascus look. The blackened bronze tsuba (guard) meticulously crafted from a damascus look. The blackened bronze tsuba (guard) and the kashira (guard) and the kashira (buttcap) bear the Tokugawa Shogunate kamon (family crest) Each sword in this series utilize a one piece brass construction habaki (blade collar) to ensure proper fitting of the blade into the saya (scabbard), in addition, authentic ray skin (same) is used to wrap the tsuka (handle) and then tied with Japanese cotton ito. We offer the katana with either a mahogany wood saya or a palisander wood saya with Japanese cotton sageo wrap. Also included is a cotton sword bag.

Ryumon Practical Katana

The Ryumon Practical Katana has a hand forged and folded AISI 1060 carbon steel blade. Heat treated with traditional processes to produce an extremely sharp ha (edge). Each sword in the series utilizes a one piece brass construction habaki (edge). Each sword in this series utilizes a one – piece brass construction habaki (blade collar) that enables the blade to fit securely into the saya (scabbard). Each piece in the Bushido Collections has a hand forged iron wrapped high quality carbon steel blade that is extremely sharp. The wooden saya for each piece is finished with a deep black lacquer and wrapped with Japanese cotton sageo. The (MC-3031, MC-3032 and MC-3035) all have authentic ray skin same wrapped on the tuska (handle) and a 1 piece brass construction habaki (blade collar). These fully functional swords can be disassemble for care and maintenance. A cleaning kit, sateen sword bag (cotton sword bag for MC-3031), and hang tag are included with each sword

Each of the items (MC -3033 and MC 3034) of the Bushido collection has a hand forged high carbon steal blade and a high lacquered saya (scabbard). Simulated ray skin wrapped is used on the tsuka (handle). The sageo and ito braid are woven from high quality Japanese cotton. The habaki is constructed as a 1 piece brass design. Fully functional and aesthetically pleasing these swords come complete with a cleaning kit, cotton sword bag and hang tag, for added safety these swords have a double pegged design handle which can be disassemble for care and maintenance.

Masahiro Historical Replicas Series (MA – J01 to MA – J05) swords are all 100% hand forged. Features include an extremely sharp 1060 carbon steel blade, 1 piece brass construction habaki (blade collar), authentic ray skin (same) wrapped tsuka (handle), and antique bronze tsuba. The sageo and ito are woven from Japanese cotton and the saya (scabbard) is finished with a deep black lacquer. Each sword comes with a cotton sword bag for extra protection and packaged in a tubular box
